Nick is cramming for Critics’ Choice House-Band Gig

On Friday night (January 15), Nick Jonas & the Administration are taking their act to prime time as the Critics’ Choice Movie Awards house band. While he’s used to playing some covers while on tour, Jonas admitted that learning the show’s lengthy playlist has been a bit daunting.

“It’s kind of hard to believe it’s coming up so quickly,” he told MTV News about the gig. “There’s a lot of songs that I have to learn still, but I’m looking forward to it. It’s an honor to be a part of that show, and knowing that I’m going to be playing it with the band is comforting, considering they are very experienced and they’ve got a pretty good grip on what they’re doing.”

Nick and the boys already performed at the Grammy nominations concert in December, where they played the title track from their debut, Who I Am, but at the Critics’ Choice Movie Awards, the guys will be on hand all night pumping out the hits.

“[The producers of the show and I] work together on this one to come up with a list of songs that I feel comfortable with and that they were comfortable with as well,” Jonas explained. “It’s a big list, but it should be good to see it all come together.”

Nick is secretly looking forward to Sunday’s Golden Globes, where Ricky Gervais will be hosting, because his favorite movie of 2009 isn’t in the running for a Critics’ Choice Movie Award. ” ‘The Invention of Lying’ was my favorite movie from this past year,” he said of the Gervais-starring comedy. “I think that Ricky Gervais is hilarious, and that kind of dry comedy in that film is something that I love.”

The Critics’ Choice Movie Awards air Friday at 9 p.m. ET on VH1
